Jaguar’s Mark V model was produced and launched in London from 1948-1951. The Mark V was designed and introduced at the same time as the XK120, creating a friendly competition within the marque. The XK120 had the crowd appeal, but the Mark V outsold it significantly. Claimed power output in was 104 bhp for the 2664 cc Mark V and 126 bhp for the 3486 cc XK120. The chassis was new at the time with independent front suspension with double wishbones and a torsion bar. It also had hydraulic brakes, which Jaguar had been slow to adopt compared to other manufacturers.
